Summary
December 1915, the Germans seem to be preparing a major attack on one of the strategic points of the French defense line, at Verdun. But Marshal Joffre refuses to reinforce the zone, convinced that the real battle will be fought in Champagne. January 1916, the attack no longer leaves the slightest doubt. Only a miracle could save Verdun. And the miracle happens: for days, rain falls on the city, repelling the offensive of the German troops.
